When to go

The major resorts on the south and eastern coast are open all year but you will find that the majority of resort in the north close between November and April. As with all of the east coast resorts the beach and the natural beauty of the area is the main attraction. Although a lively resort, Cala d'Or does not have many local attractions for the daytime. The public bus service is limited and it would be advisable to hire a car to visit some of the nearby attractions.

Caves of Drach or to give it its proper name Cuevas del Drach is the most popular of caves for visiting tourists on the island of Majorca. There are three main caves, Cueva Negra (Black Cave), Cueva Blanca (White Cave) and Cueva Luis Salvator.

The Caves of Hams or to give it is proper name the Cuevas de Hams is situated near to Porto Cristo. The incomparable beauty of the Caves is heightened by the artistic lighting created by Lorenzo Caldentey, son of the discoverer. Inside the Caves there are several lakes. On the largest of all, the “Sea of Venice”, there are daily performances of our show “Magical Mozart”, in special tribute to the famous composer.

Aquarium de Mallorca sits next to the Caves of Drach and is open throughout the year. For those that want to see a much larger aquarium the recently opened Palma Aquarium will be of more interest.
